Man Utd Predicted XI vs Galatasaray as Mainoo and Garnacho decisions made

Erik ten Hag previews Man Utd’s clash with Galatasaray in the Champions League

Manchester United face a must-win affair tonight, knowing defeat against Galatasaray will condemn them to a Champions League group-stage exit. Erik ten Hag’s side have endured a disastrous Group A campaign, losing three of their four games, and will be without Marcus Rashford in Istanbul.

The Dutchman is set to make a couple of changes for what promises to be a hostile visit to RAMS Park.

Express Sport explores United’s likely solution to Rashford’s ill-timed absence and whether Ten Hag will stick with teenage duo Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

Goalkeeper – Onana

Andre Onana’s last-gasp penalty save in the 1-0 win against FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford is why United are still breathing in Group A.

He has settled into life at the club and is starting to look like the £47million goalkeeper Ten Hag put his faith in this summer.

Defence – Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw

United kept their fifth Premier League clean sheet of the season in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Goodison Park.

Luke Shaw’s return was a significant boost, and he should keep his spot at left-back. Diogo Dalot also had a good game on the right.

Harry Maguire will likely continue to be selected over four-time winner Raphael Varane at centre-back, extending his strong run of form at Everton.

Victor Lindelof should partner him at the heart of the visitors’ defence, given Jonny Evans remains sidelined through injury.

Midfield – Mainoo, McTominay, Fernandes

Ten Hag is also expected to name an unchanged midfield, handing Mainoo his maiden Champions League start to go with his first in the Premier League at the weekend.

The 18-year-old stole the show alongside Garnacho on Merseyside and deserves to keep his place.

Scott McTominay has battled his way back into Ten Hag’s plans after being placed in the shop window in the summer.

Bruno Fernandes is a certain starter, and the captain’s attacking quality will prove crucial if United are to take three points from the Turkish capital.

Attack – Antony, Garnacho, Hojlund

Rashford will miss the Galatasaray clash after his first-half red card in the 4-3 defeat at Copenhagen.

United were 2-0 up and cruising at Parken before the No 10’s dismissal, which left them at the brink of a Group A exit.

Antony is Rashford’s likely replacement after being left on the bench for the last few games, though Facundo Pellistri is also an option.

Anthony Martial scored his ninth goal in 16 appearances against Everton on Sunday but should drop to the bench, given Rasmus Hojlund – with five Champions League goals this term – has travelled with the squad.
