UFC 293 fighter lets fly with X-rated homophobic slur against Aussie crowd after winning fight – and gets bombarded with boos and beer by furious fans

  • Charles Radtke attacked the crowd after win in Sydney
  • American beat Mike Mathetha by unanimous decision
  • Another fighter on the card also used the awful slur

Charles Radtke received a chorus of abuse and had beer thrown at him after launching into a shocking homophobic outburst directed at the crowd when he won his fight at UFC 293 in Sydney.

The American came out on top in a narrow, unanimous points win over Mike Mathetha in a lacklustre bout that saw both men booed by spectators due to the lack of striking and all-round action.

Radtke voiced his anger with the fans as he was interviewed by former heavyweight champion turned commentator Daniel Cormier just after the decision was announced.

‘Charles, how good did it feel to get your first UFC victory?’ Cormier asked.

‘It felt great. And so f**k all you f*****s up in the f**king crowd. Come down here and get some, you p***y-a** b**ch,’ Radtke replied.

Charles Radtke became public enemy No.1 at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena when he verbally attacked the crowd after recording his first win in the UFC

The crowd weren’t wild about the lack of stand-up striking action in his fight with Mathetha – and the American let them have it as soon as he got on the microphone

He then leaned over and yelled ‘f**k you’ into the microphone as Cormier pulled it away from him to stop the tirade in its tracks, and stuck his middle fingers up at the crowd.

Radtke was hustled backstage as soon as the interview was over as he was hit with loud and sustained booing and had a beer thrown at him.

UFC fighter Derek Brunson slammed Radtke for his remarks in a post to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

‘Yeah Radtke’s about to be doing community service at the LGBTQ for the next 6 months that boy lost his mind during his interview,’ he wrote.

The American later posted an apology for his slurs on social media.

‘I’d like [to] sincerely apologize to UFC fans across the world and to the fans here in Sydney for the remarks I made post fight today,’ he wrote.

‘Those comments are not a reflection of who I am and they don’t belong on a platform as great as what the UFC has provided me.

‘My emotions were running high.. It’s hard to explain the way your mind works when you’re locked in a cage to fight another man with your entire livelihood and dreams on the line.’

The fighter known as ‘Chuck Buffalo’ later posted an apology for his outburst on social media

Radtke wasn’t alone in broadcasting a homophobic slur during Sunday’s action in Sydney, however.

Manel Kape defeated Felipe dos Santos by unanimous decision and spat out an awful insult when he tore into rival fighter Kai Kara-France in his post-bout interview.

‘All these numbers two, three, four, they not accept to fight me because they’re f**king scared,’ he said, referring to world-ranked opponents in his division.

‘I was supposed to fight Kai Kara. You motherf**ker, you weren’t here, you show up, you piece of s**t,’ he said to the New Zealander, who was in the crowd and responded by showing Kape both middle fingers.

Angolan flyweight Manel Kape also used a homophobic slur as he heaped insults on his Kiwi rival Kai Kara-France

After threatening to spar Kara-France in the Auckland gym where he trains if he doesn’t fight him next, the Angolan flyweight crossed the line: ‘And no-one, no-one is going to do anything, you know why? All your teammates is a bunch of f****ts.’

Once again, Cormier was forced to pull the microphone away to cut the interview short before Kape could unleash more offence.

He then directed his vitriol at Israel Adesanya after the New Zealander’s stunning loss to new middleweight champion Sean Strickland.

Kape – who had a fiery clash with Adesanya when he insulted his friend Kara-France at the pre-tournament press conference – was asked what he thought of the incredible upset.

‘You know, karma is a b***h,’ he replied.
