Tommy Fury’s win over KSI corrected as confusion over judge’s scorecard emerges

KSI and Tommy Fury weigh in ahead of Misfits Prime card fight

Tommy Fury’s victory over KSI has been tweaked from a majority decision to a unanimous decision after one of the judge’s scorecards was added up incorrectly. KSI claimed the result was a ‘robbery’ after enjoying success in the early rounds, and the alteration is only set to leave the YouTube sensation even more perplexed.

The commonly held verdict from Saturday’s hotly-anticipated bout was that it was not a spectacle for the ages. Fury and KSI spent much of the six-round contest clinching one another as fans began to voice their anger in the later rounds.

Many felt that KSI had done enough to snatch a surprise victory over Fury – the younger brother of world heavyweight champion Tyson. But the judge’s scorecards told a different story.

When they were read aloud on the night, one of the cards was announced as a 57-57 draw, with the other two scored 57-56 in favour of Fury.

The contest therefore went down as a majority decision. But it has since been acknowledged that the scorecard read out as a draw was calculated incorrectly, and should have been 57-56 in Fury’s favour just like the other two judges.

The 24-year-old, who suggested after the final bell that his focus would switch back to fighting more traditional opponents instead of YouTube stars, has therefore been credited with a unanimous decision win over KSI.

“I want to thank my Lord and Saviour,” he told the crowd at the AO Arena. “I did it for Manchester, I love you. I couldn’t use my right hand for six weeks in the preparation, I am not an excuse maker. I fought my heart out in there. I am trying to be the best I can be. He is an awkward man. I am done with all this crossover s***.”

KSI, meanwhile, reacted angrily after the fight, facing up to Fury and challenging him over whether he felt the result was fair. “That is a robbery bro,” he ranted. “How many jabs did you land? Look at your face, look at your eyes.

“I’m the YouTuber, you are the boxer so you have to win? He is the man who is supposed to be the pro boxer. He hit me on the back of the head over and over. It is outrageous. I want to appeal. I need to see it again. I felt like I won that.”

Several big names showed sympathy for KSI, with Chris Eubank Jr revealing that he had the 30-year-old as the victor. “It happens, you don’t get the decision,” he said. “It makes you stronger.”
