A young player at Ligue 1 club OGC Nice is threatening to throw himself off the Magnan Bridge.
The player, who has not yet been named, is reported to be suicidal following a relationship break-up, according to reports in France but according to representatives of the player, the rumours of a break-up is "completely false".
The likes of firefighters, police officers and a psychologist have since been dispatched by the French football club who are attempting to help the footballer.
BFMTV said the player is currently stood on the 100 metre high Magnan viaduct, which is located on the A8 motorway to the north-west of the city of Nice.

Reports state that the player pulled up by the side of the road and is threatening to jump.
Following the dramatic situation, the club has cancelled its press conference with coach Francesco Farioli that was scheduled for Friday (September 29) as 'crisis talks' continue to occur behind the scenes.
Reports have said that a 5km traffic jam formed due to the incident as traffic has been restricted along the route which runs through the city of Nice.
Nice currently sit second in the Ligue 1 table after an unbeaten start to the season with three wins and three draws from their opening six games. The club next take on league leaders Brest on Sunday (October 1) in a home game at the Allianz Riviera.
Ahead of Sunday's game, Brest manager Eric Roy pledged his support to Nice during this time as he said: "I would like to give, as well as the entire club, my support to Nice with regard to the current events.
"I am hoping that it ends as well as possible. My heart goes out to them."
The club scored their biggest win of the season earlier this month after defeating Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain 3-2 at the Parc De Princes. They followed that up with an similarly impressive away performance at Monaco where they won 1-0 thanks to Jeremie Boga's stoppage-time winner but were helped as former Arsenal ace Folarin Balogun missed two penalties on his full debut for the club.
