Ryan Reynolds has finally appointed Shaun Harvey as a director – despite him taking both Leeds United and Bradford City into administration.
Harvey, who is well-regarded at Wrexham, first joined the club in 2020 as a result of his consultancy business as an advisor to the board. And he has now been appointed to the board via an EFL loophole.
Under current rules, EFL clubs are unable to appoint individuals to the board if they have been involved in two clubs that went into administration. And Harvey falls into that category.

The EFL website states an individual can't be appointed if they were “a director of a football club which has suffered two insolvency events past June 2004 or separate football clubs which have each suffered an insolvency event past June 2004.”
However, Wrexham have been able to appoint him to the board due to a loophole. Harvey's involvement with Bradford came before 2004, meaning, in the eyes of the EFL, he's only been involved in one insolvency event.

Harvey was at the Bantams when they were promoted to the Premier League in 1999, but after entering administration, in 2002, Bradford narrowly avoided liquidation by effectively mortgaging almost all of their assets.
Harvey would move to local rivals Leeds, where he served as chief executive for nine years. The Peacocks were plunged into administration in 2007, and Harvey left the club in 2011.
He was appointed as the chief executive of the Football League before setting up a consultancy business which led him to Wrexham.
