Manchester United players are mocked by Bayern Munich supporters at Old Trafford in build-up to Champions League tie: ‘You’re s*** and you know you are!’
- United needed to win and have another result go their way to qualify from group
- They had won just one of their first five matches in the group and lost at weekend
- Back off Erik ten Hag! Insipid Man United performances are on the players – not the manager – Listen to why on It’s All Kicking Off
Manchester United players were taunted by Bayern Munich fans as they warmed up before the sides’ crunch Champions League tie.
United went into the game with an almost impossible task on their hands, needing the beat the German champions and hope that Copenhagen versus Galatasaray ended in a draw.
The Red Devils would have found themselves out of Europe completely if results had not gone their way after winning just one of their five five group matches, losing three.
They have endured a difficult season and lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League at the weekend, their fifth defeat in 10 matches despite a reasonably solid short-term run prior to the match.
And Bayern fans took it upon themselves to mock the players for their form in a packed away end at the ground, chanting: ‘You’re s*** and you know you are’ as the home players warmed up.

After losing 3-0 to rivals City in the Manchester derby at the end of October and by the same score to Newcastle in the EFL Cup, United went on a good run domestically, starting with beating Fulham 1-0 on November 4.
Their poor European form continued, however, as they lost 4-3 in Copenhagen with Marcus Rashford sent off.
They then enjoyed back-to-back clean sheets against Luton and Everton, but a 3-3 draw in Turkey against Galatasaray left their qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
A dire performance away to Newcastle in the Premier League followed, where a few of Erik ten Hag’s players were questioned regarding their attitude, but the Dutchman won the Premier League Manager of the Month award with Harry Maguire winning the players’ version.
They looked to have turned a corner by beating Chelsea 2-1 last week with a fresh team, but the heavy defeat to Bournemouth looked to have put them back to square one.

Bayern fans mocked their opponents but they didn’t go into the game in the best of form, sitting second in the Bundesliga behind Leverkusen, four points away with a game in hand.
Despite beating Cologne 1-0 in the Bundesliga at the end of November, they stuttered to claiming victory in the Champions League group with a 0-0 draw with Copenhagen on November 29.
They then returned to domestic action with a shock 5-1 defeat to Frankfurt on Saturday, with all five home goals coming before the hour mark.
United started the game well at Old Trafford in their bid to stay in Europe.
