Manchester United's season is on the verge of completely falling apart following news Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to miss "several weeks" through injury.

The defender hurt his hamstring during United's dismal 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday, becoming the ninth (10th if you include Rasmus Hojlund who arrived at the club nursing a back injury) first team squad member to get crocked this season.

The club's injury crisis, coupled with recent off-field controversies involving the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony and Mason Greenwood has left United fans wondering if the team is "cursed". Taking to X (formerly Twitter) in response to the news about Wan-Bissaka, one fed up supporter wrote: "Nobody can tell me this club isn't under some kind of curse right now. Seriously. I literally wish the season was over, already."

Another said: "Our season is already over in less than 2 months. Who cursed this club?" A third added: "There's something in the water at Carrington," while a fourth wrote: "Seriously no other team has had this kind of bad luck over such a short space of time."

The Red Devils are second only to Chelsea when it comes to Premier League clubs with the most players out injured at the moment. The Blues have a whopping 12 stars on the treatment table while United have eight – which goes some way to explaining both sides' current league positions.

What is the main cause of United's injury troubles? Let us know in the comments section below.

Wan-Bissaka has played some of his best football under Erik ten Hag despite starting life under the Dutchman playing second fiddle to Diogo Dalot. He was one of the club's standout performers during the latter half of last season and was deservedly reinstated to the England set-up by Gareth Southgate earlier this year.

His absence means United are now without three of their first-choice back four, with Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw also out injured. Suspensions handed to both Sancho and Antony have left them light up front while Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat are notable absentees in midfield.
