Manchester United’s Champions League match against Copenhagen was halted temporarily after somebody ran on the pitch holding a Palestine flag.

Play was halted nine minutes in when the individual ran around on the pitch for around a minute before stopping on the touchline, where stewards seized him.

He ran around in both halves waving the large Palestine flag before stopping inside United’s half.

‘Stop the killing of children in Gaza. Let’s stand together,’ the flag read.

United were already 1-0 up at that stage thanks to Rasmus Hojlund’s early goal.

The Danish striker scored against his former club after three minutes following a pass from Scott McTominay, then went on to add a second 28 minutes in.

Not long after the supporter ran on the pitch, play was stopped again as United subbed off an injured Jonny Evans for Raphael Varane.

Play was also halted after 18 minutes after a fan collapsed at the side of the pitch.

While they received medical attention, a screen was put around the fan.

It took place at the same venue, the Parken Stadium, at which Christian Eriksen collapsed after having a heart attack during Euro 2020.
