Jadon Sancho eyed for surprise Premier League transfer as ‘two options emerge’

Jadon Sancho to train away from Man Utd squad until ‘discipline issue’ resolved

Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho could complete a shock Premier League transfer in January as two clubs emerge in the running for his signature, according to reports. The 23-year-old winger’s Old Trafford career looks to be nearing an end after his public spat with Erik ten Hag escalated this week.

Ten Hag has banished Sancho from his first team after the United No 25 refused to apologise for effectively calling him a liar on social media earlier this month. The Dutchman excluded Sancho from his squad for the 3-1 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, later claiming he wasn’t at the level required at United.

Shortly after, he released a social media statement questioning Ten Hag’s reasoning and stating he had been made a ‘scapegoat’ in M16. It has left Sancho’s future at United in doubt, and Ten Hag has laid down the law by keeping him away from his senior squad ahead of Saturday’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Sancho is open to bringing his United career to an end at the earliest possible opportunity in the January transfer window.

Some Old Trafford figures allegedly believe it would be in the best interest of all parties for the England international to continue his career elsewhere. The report claims that a return to Borussia Dortmund could be on the cards after the Bundesliga giants were identified as a possible destination.

But Nottingham Forest are also said to be in the frame if Sancho wanted the chance to prove he can make it in the Premier League. He knows Forest boss Steve Cooper well after being managed by him in the England U17 set-up, but it would be a surprise move if he landed at the City Ground this winter.

Sancho was linked with a potential late summer move to Saudi Arabia amid interest from Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq.

The Saudi window remained open until last Thursday. United were willing to sanction a loan exit but wanted a £50million obligation to buy in Sancho’s contract, which Al Ettifaq couldn’t pay.

However, the report adds that Sancho was reluctant to move to the Middle East, given he is just 23 and near the start of his career.

His future at United looks bleak, though, as Ten Hag takes action to prove that no player is bigger than him in his long-term project.
