A new England kit launched to mark the 150th anniversary match against Scotland has gone down a storm with fans.

The sides meet at a sold-out Hampden tonight for a celebration of the oldest fixture in international football. In honour of the occasion, a special England kit has been produced.

Modelled by captain Harry Kane ahead of the game, the kit certainly belongs in the ‘old-school’ category. It carries the original crest from that first meeting between the counties in 1872, with the year just below it.

But there’s a catch: It’s not a match kit. In fact, it will only be worn in the warm-up and it won’t be available for general sale. However, it will help raise money for a worthy cause, with the shirts being auctioned off to raise funds for the FA’s charity partner, the Alzheimer’s Society.

Many fans have called for the shirt to worn in the match and made available to buy.

One fan: "Oh come on, why aren't you allowing them to wear it in the match properly? And why aren't they being sold???"

A second added: "And we couldn’t wear in the game because?" A third agreed: "Oh boo, I thought they were going to wear it for the match. Looks great."

A fourth posted: "That is miles better than the actual kit, can't you wear it for the match instead?" A fifth demanded: “Make them and sell them.”

Sky Sports is bringing you 500 live football games to watch, as well access to Cricket, Golf, F1, Boxing, NFL, NBA and more across eight dedicated channels. Sky Sports is the only way to watch all the action this year.

Another fan said: “Should be a match shirt that.” Meanwhile, another commented: “Thank you England team for your charity work.”

The one-off auction in support of Alzheimer’s Society is now live HERE and will run until 8pm on Saturday, September 30. Bids can be made for the shirts worn during the warm-up and for limited edition unworn shirts.
