Ed Sheeran joins Ipswich Town’s dressing room and blasts out ‘perfect’ song

Winning hasn't felt this good for Ipswich Town in some time – and thanks to Ed Sheeran it hasn't sounded this good in a while, either.

The four-time Grammy Award-winner and lifelong Ipswich fan was on hand at Portman Road as the Tractor Boys got back to winning ways against Hull City on Tuesday. And a 3-0 win was enough to (at least temporarily) push Kieran McKenna's men back to the Championship summit.

And just when it seemed as though the night couldn't get any better, Sheeran paid the players a visit in the dressing room to revel in the delight of an eighth straight game unbeaten. The red-headed recording artist even sung along as his No. 1 hit 'Perfect' was blasted over speakers, with the squad joining in word-for-word.

Players can be seen swaying in unison along to the lyrics, arms draped over one another in celebration as their remarkable campaign continued. After finishing second in League One last term, back-to-back promotions is looking highly realistic after settling back into the second tier.

And those in the dressing room weren't the only ones beaming at the symphonic scenes as supporters sang their praises. Leicester City will move back to the top of the Championship with a draw or better at home to Preston on Wednesday, but that threat wasn't enough to dampen the mood among Ipswich's fans.

"Things you love to see," wrote one social media user in response to the video. Another chimed: "I can't remember a time this club made me smile this much."

A third joked: "Ed Sheeran in the dressing room, he’d have got into [the] midfield three years ago." Sheeran was also praised for pouring pints in the club bar on Tuesday, leaving attendees in shock at their star server.

The songwriter's '+–=÷× Tour' is in its third straight season of sponsoring Ipswich's kit, a partnership that appears to have provided nothing but good luck to the club. And his presence at Portman Road doesn't seem to harm their fortunes, either, if Tuesday's performance was anything to go by.

McKenna's men will do their best to ensure they wrap up the Championship campaign looking like the A-Team in pursuit of promotion. For the time being, however, one perfect night at a time will have to do for McKenna's men.
