Chelsea have been reminded of their pulling power in the transfer market after left-back target Patrick Dorgu admitted the Blues are his favourite club. Dorgu, who also admits to idolising Chelsea icon Eden Hazard, has caught the attention of the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.
Reports claim that the Lecce starlet is wanted by Europe’s biggest clubs. The 19-year-old has become one of the most highly-rated talents in Italy.
Chelsea are among the clubs lining up to sign the defender but could face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona. Dorgu has already admitted that his dream is to play in the Premier League, likely ruling out a move to the Spanish giants.
In positive news for Mauricio Pochettino, Dorgu has openly admitted that he supports Chelsea. Former winger Hazard was the Denmark youth international’s favourite player when he was growing up.
He told Danish publication Bold: “My dream is of course the Premier League, but right now I am also in a very good place in my career. If it were to be somewhere in Italy, it wouldn’t be too bad either.”

Asked about his favourite club, Dorku responded: “Yes, it’s Chelsea.”
According to Dorgu’s agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, a move to Liverpool was previously turned down because the Reds had only offered his client a place in their U21 squad. “That’s not what we’re looking for right now. We focus on his career, his development and playing time,” Ogbodo added.
“Liverpool are obviously not the only club following him either. There are many clubs here in England who are keeping an eye on him.
“Manchester City kept an eye on him when he played against England for the Under-19s at Hobro in Denmark. The Lecce scout also told me that Barcelona are also monitoring Patrick, because he is a huge talent.

“But we would like him to stay a little longer in Lecce, two more seasons to mature and gain experience. He will move to a bigger club only when we deem him ready.”
Chelsea may add to their squad in the summer transfer window, although head coach Pochettino has admitted that there were “too many changes” during the summer. It is a hint that the club will not be quite so busy in the transfer market.
Pochettino said earlier in November: “At the moment, I think we are a young team, a young team means too many changes in the summer because of the circumstances and we are suffering – sometimes good and bad results, but performances are consistent.”
