Dominic Calvert-Lewin missed a glorious chance for Everton with fans calling it 'the worst miss I've ever seen'.

The Toffees are hosting Newcastle on Thursday (December 7) in the Premier League as they look to build on their 1-0 away win against Nottingham Forest this past week.

In what has been a lacklustre first-half from both sides, the 26-year-old had a wonderful chance to put Everton ahead but fired over the bar from just four yards out. He was instantly distraught with the horrible miss as fans groaned in what was a massive chance in the clash.

Fans on social media couldn't believe what they'd just witnessed with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing: "CALVERT LEWIN OH MY GOD THATS THE WORST MISS IVE EVER SEEN" while another asked: "How has Calvert Lewin missed from there".

A third fan simply said: "That’s an unforgivable miss from Calvert-Lewin. You just cannot miss those". The Sheffield native has scored just three league goals this season and is without a goal in his last three games.

Everton sit 18th in the Premier League table and are two points adrift from safety after suffering a 10-point deduction after violating their profit and sustainability rules. The deduction saw the club drop from 14th to 19th who released a statement confirming their intention to appeal the punishment.

The statement read: "Everton Football Club is both shocked and disappointed by the ruling of the Premier League’s Commission. The Club believes that the Commission has imposed a wholly disproportionate and unjust sporting sanction.
