Andy Robertson opens up on injury return as Liverpool fans plead ‘we need you’

Andy Robertson has opened up about his return from injury as Liverpool fans pleaded that they "need him back".

The left-back suffered a dislocated shoulder during Scotland's 2-0 defeat to Spain during their Euro 2024 qualifier last month. He collided with opposition keeper Unai Simon during the loss and was forced off as he cradled his arm in his shirt while walking off the pitch.

The 29-year-old underwent shoulder surgery shortly after where it was confirmed he'd miss three months of action in a massive blow for Liverpool. Robertson's been an ever-present figure in the Jurgen Klopp's side since signing from Hull City in 2017.

While Robertson will miss crucial clashes against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Manchester United over the next few weeks, the Scotsman eased the minds of Liverpool fans as he admitted he's "progressing well". During an interview with Viaplay Sports UK, he said: "Yeah, getting there, slowly but surely.

"Surgery was a success, which was the main thing, no complications from it. So far, so good. I think I’m about three weeks since my surgery now, so everything is progressing well. Just bit by bit, got to take it week by week.

"Everything has gone well up to this point and hopefully that continues and then hopefully before we know it I’ll be back on the grass." While he looks to be on the mend, his return can't come soon enough for Liverpool fans as one X user has seemingly had enough of Kostas Tsimikas deputising as they wrote: "Please I need you back.. can't cope with Tsimikas for too long".

Another fan suggested that Liverpool can secure their second Premier League in five years with Robertson's return and a defensive midfield signing in January while a third user hoped: "Hopefully he is back in the end of January".
