Mourinho has a contract expiring on June 30, 2024, and at the moment there is no intention to proceed with the renewal of the agreement.
It is precisely this instability that is undermining the serenity within the club because there has never been a victorious Empire with a crest baring an expiration date on the armour of its soldiers as if they were milk cartons.
The feeling in Italy is that Mourinho has lost the enthusiasm needed to lead a club like Roma and that he has remained in the eternal city more out of pride than personal will.
He would need an emotional shock, he would need to experience a new phase of love between the coach and the club to regenerate that determination that seems to have been lost. The victory against Frosinone is a very important starting point because Lukaku seems to have found his form once and for all.
Without the renewal of Mourinho’s contract it would be difficult to envisage a strategic continuation on the market similar to that of recent years. At 60, perhaps the time has come for Mourinho to make a change in his career after the failures accumulated at Manchester United, Tottenham and partly also at Roma.

The Conference League victory is statistically a record for the club and for the coach but we must not forget that the economic side and prestige of that competition is much lower than Champions League standard.
What would happen without Mourinho?
Without Mourinho there would be a massive purge and many players, who were convinced to join Roma in the first place because of the presence of the Portuguese coach, would ask to leave or more simply would not renew their contracts which expire in a few months.
Rui Patricio, one of the players most linked to Mourinho, and Lukaku would unlikely remain at Roma.

For the goalkeeper, whose contract expires in June 2024, there would no longer be the possibility of remaining in the eternal city due to his age, while for Lukaku there could be a motivational problem.
Romelu has agreed not to play in the Champions League because he is convinced by the possibility of returning to Mourinho and without him he would not hesitate to find a new team.
For Spinazzola, Kristensen, Azmoun and Llorente the chances of staying in Rome would be close to 0% without Mourinho. In the selection of priorities, Mourinho’s farewell would mark the end of a market built around big experienced names, favoring a re-foundation entrusted to Bove and Zalewski, players who grew up in the club’s youth sector.
However, Mourinho’s work should not be underestimated due to his ability to increase the asset value of the entire club.
Apart from goalkeeper Svilar, all the young players coached by Mourinho in Rome have achieved a large increase in their market value and this is an aspect much appreciated by the club and the Friedkin Family who own it.

Dybala’s contract is a puzzle that should have protected both the player and the Italian club in the event of a failed experience
Dybala can choose to leave without Mourinho
Without Mourinho it would be very difficult to see Paulo Dybala at Roma.
The second year without the Champions League is certainly limiting and offers less international showcase to the player.
Dybala’s contract is a puzzle that should have protected both the player and the Italian club in the event of a failed experience.
The Argentine’s contract with Giallorossi continues until 2025 there are two clauses: one for Italy worth around 20million euros and one for abroad worth around 12million euros with different conditions.
Roma could cancel this clause in the event of an offer from Serie A, increasing Dybala’s salary. For offers from abroad, the final say belongs to the player who today appears linked to Roma almost exclusively due to the presence of Mourinho.
