Aaron Ramsdale has appeared to taunt David Raya upon his return to Arsenal training this week. The goalkeepers were back together following Raya’s game to forget against Chelsea at the weekend.
Who should play in goal has been one of the main talking points at Arsenal this season. Raya has seemingly usurped Ramsdale as the first-choice stopper for Mikel Arteta, starting the last seven matches across the Premier League and Champions League.
Ramsdale will feel he didn’t do too much wrong and was harshly treated after being named in the PFA Team of the Year last season. Raya’s performances of late hasn’t helped the situation, either.
Ramsdale missed the visit to Stamford Bridge following the birth of his first child. While he watched on from home, Raya put in another shaky display.
The pair were reunited at London Colney on Monday ahead of the Champions League match against Sevilla. And Ramsdale appeared to be in good spirits heading into training.

Video footage released of the session shows Raya, along with backup keepers Karl Hein and James Hillson, walking onto the training field. Ramsdale was languishing behind but quickly ran to join the trio.
And what can be seen as a warning to Raya, he was heard saying: “It’s alright lads. I’m here. We’re together.”
Raya knows he has Ramsdale breathing down his neck. He gifted Chelsea a second goal on Saturday after being lobbed by former Gunners target Mykhaylo Mudryk.
He almost made another clanger, passing the ball straight to Cole Palmer when playing out from the back. He made up for his error by preventing the Chelsea star from shooting when the goal was at his mercy.

The score was 2-0 at the time and proved to be a pivotal moment. Arsenal fans reacted by chanting Ramsdale’s name in a clear indication they want a change between the sticks.
Raya is currently on loan from Brentford, with Arsenal having the option to sign him permanently next summer for £27million. At his pre-match press conference, Arteta admitted there is pressure on Raya but no more than any other player in his squad.
He said: “There is a pressure of playing for big clubs where you have to win and you have to be at your best, and you have someone next to you that is pushing you every single day. But we can go player by player or position by position.
“You will tell me what’s happening with the left-back, the holding midfielder – you’ve asked Jorginho a question already – and Gabriel Jesus is here and there’s another question on that. That’s the debate and that’s the beauty of the game as well and the fact that you have a lot of options is going to make those talks more frequent.”
