Springboks star Cheslin Kolbe showed his class in a heartwarming encounter with a young fan. The South African winger visited the MultiChoice headquarters in Johannesburg with the rest of the squad on Wednesday to showcase the Webb Ellis Cup at an event.
Among the spectators was a young rugby fanatic, who had gone viral during the tournament after performing a rendition of James Brown’s “I Feel Good” at a talent show while wearing a South Africa jersey. The youngster was given a microphone during the Springboks showcase event and took the opportunity to reveal his adoration for Kolbe.
“Cheslin Kolbe… you are my favourite because you inspire me. So that’s why I want to be a pocket rocket just like you,” he said. Kolbe, still wearing the strapping from Saturday’s final, then got up out of his seat and gave the young fan a hug before handing over his Rugby World Cup winners medal.
The heartwarming moment was caught on film and has been making the rounds on social media ever since.

Their celebrations went well into the night with Eben Etzebeth receiving a celebratory RG Snyman-style haircut from Damian Willemse in the early hours of Sunday morning after the Springboks clinched a record fourth Rugby World Cup crown.

“I said ‘if we win the world cup, I’ll cut my hair the same as yours’ and obviously after the win in the final, it was about half past four in the morning… Yeah… the last time I drank water was in the game,” explained Etzebeth after touching down in South Africa with a mohawk.
“Obviously I wanted to be a man of my word, and I mean, winning the cup with these guys, I’ll do anything, so I decided to cut my hair. He sat me down and Damian Willemse cut my hair.”
