Lewis Hamilton commits to Mercedes until 2025

We are edging closer towards this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix as Formula One returns after a week break, with many teams and drivers hoping to catch Red Bull and Max Verstappen at the top of the grid. Either Verstappen or Sergio Perez have won every single race so far this season, while the Dutchman won his 10th consecutive race last time out at the Italian GP.

The 25-year-old has never won in Singapore however, with perhaps a curse hanging over his head going into this weekend that may leave the door open for the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz or Lando Norris among others.

Hamilton especially will be desperate to pip Verstappen to help give Mercedes a boost as although they will have conceded this year’s title, the Silver Arrows will be preparing for next season after the seven-time world champion recently committed his future to the team with a new contract.

There have been calls for Hamilton’s first F1 title to be overturned though as former rival Felipe Massa has begun a legal challenge regarding the 2008 championship, which Hamilton one by one point amid ‘Crashgate’ that the Brazilian is questioning. Should Hamilton be stripped of that victory, he will want to ensure that he remains alongside Michael Schumacher at the top of the most championships in F1 history – currently the pair have seven each.

Hamilton names GOAT

Amid recent calls for both Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher to lose one of their seven world titles, the Brit was asked to name his greatest of all time.

Though both are in contention for F1’s GOAT, Hamilton was tasked with the tough question of sport’s greatest – outside of motorsport.

However, Hamilton immediately fired back by naming NBA legend Michael Jordan as his greatest, without any hesitation.

Sergio Perez nightmare taxi

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has endured a nightmare taxi ride, after being pranked and spun around by Ford stunt driver Paul Swift instead.

He was then tasked with a time trial at the Millbrook Proving Ground and performed admirably.

Perez beat Swift’s time by four seconds, before receiving two five-second penalties for hitting cones.

Schumacher title call

Calls have been made for Michael Schumacher to lose his 1994 Formula One title victory.

It was the legendary driver’s first of his career but his long-time friend and motorsport journalist Roger Benoit has insisted that it should not count.

On the final race of the season, Schumacher hit the wall under his own steam but turned into second-placed Damon Hill, forcing the Brit to also retire as neither were able to pick up any points – crowning Schumacher the champion.
