Chicanes and hairpins aren't all Formula 1 drivers will have to avoid in the maiden Las Vegas Grand Prix on Sunday.

Daniel Ricciardo has been cautioned that exotic dancers may be among the obstacles as Sin City prepares to host a raucous event in Nevada. The AlphaTauri driver appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show this week to help promote the race's birth in Vegas when talk turned to the more titillating distractions that might arise.

"You gotta be careful though because you know, there are people with like Margaritas and uh, Daquiris that are like four-and-a-half feet tall," warned Kimmel. "You could easily run somebody over, like, just don’t discount that factor, all right? If you see a red light, stop is what I’m saying!”

As if Ricciardo didn't face enough of a task attempting to keep the rest of the grid at bay. And the Australian played up to that analogy as he responded: "I guess what you’re saying is there’s 19 others that I have to watch out for but it could be more?"

"It could be thousands! There could be magicians, there could be strippers walking across," exclaimed Kimmel. "You don’t want to hit a stripper!”

A stripper on the track is the last thing Ricciardo needs as he looks to inject some late life into AlphaTauri's campaign in the penultimate race of the year. The Australian regained a starting drive with the Italian manufacturer midway through this season and has agreed a deal until the end of 2024.

Ricciardo, 34, has only participated in five races in 2023 but still sits above five others with at least as much (or considerably more) experience so far this season. The former Red Bull and McLaren driver impressed en route to a seventh-place finish in Mexico a fortnight ago, a repeat of which in the first Las Vegas GP would be welcomed by bosses.

The same won't be said for strippers on the strip in the off-chance some of those bystanders attempt to join the action. The vibe in Vegas is all but certain to be the polar opposite to what's expected in the season-closer in Abu Dhabi, which promotes much more modest ideals.

That's not to say Ricciardo & Co won't get their chance to soak up the nightlife in Nevada once all the racing is concluded. However, Mercedes' staff may not get to enjoy the full experience after principal Toto Wolff enforced a gambling ban on his team.
