NBA fans did not hold back when discussing No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama’s subpar debut in the San Antonio Spurs’ 126-119 season opening loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

The 7-foot-4 Wembanyama played 23 minutes was 6-9 with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.

Wembanyama was the only member of the Spurs starting lineup with less than 25 minutes played after he spent large portions of the contest sitting out due to foul trouble.

It was not until late in the fourth quarter that the 19-year-old began to salvage his poor stat line after spending what felt like forever stuck with only six points.

‘What an underwhelming debut for Victor Wembanyama,’ one fan wrote with a yawning emoji.

‘NBA media watching Victor Wembanyama be a bum,’ wrote another user who also posted a picture of one of the characters from the Netflix show ‘Squid Games’ appearing as if he was about to cry in distress.

Fans had high expectations for the young Frenchman’s debut after the media spent majority of the calendar year hyping up Wembanyama as the best player to enter the NBA since LeBron James.

If the social media reactions are anything to go by, fans have already written the rookie off after only one game in the league.
