Ronnie O'Sullivan tells Laila to ‘stop taking pictures’

The English Open is underway in Essex with Ronnie O’Sullivan among those looking to win the event. The Rocket only returned to England on Monday (October 2nd) morning after jumping on a flight via Hong Kong following a money-spinning exhibition match with Jimmy White.

He landed just hours before he was due to face Andrew Pagett in a qualifying match at 1pm in Brentwood but fought off jet lag to win comfortably.

O’Sullivan has only won one English Open since the tournament’s inception in 2015 – beating Kyren Wilson at the Barnsley Metradom in 2017 to claim the cup.

Last year, Mark Selby picked up his second English Open crown with a win over Belgian Luca Brecel. He faces Xing Zihao this afternoon and comes into the tournament in impressive form after reaching the final of the British Open.

Express Sport keeps you up to date with all the latest updates and results from the English Open below…

O’Sullivan tennis elbow flare ups threaten English Open glory

Ronnie O’Sullivan pushed through the pain barrier as he defeated Andrew Pagett in straight frames.

The Rocket was grimacing in agony for the majority of the contest as a painful tennis elbow flare-up plagued him throughout.

“The elbow is no good really,” said O’Sullivan. “I have tried resting it, and I must get back on the painkillers. It will be all right once I take them, but long term I don’t want to keep taking them.

“I might take another cortisone injection which again I don’t really want to do as it weakens the muscles or something, whatever.”

Today’s scores so far
