A video showing Tyson Fury appearing to receive 23 seconds to recover from his third-round knockdown against Francis Ngannou has gone viral.
The Gypsy King secured a narrow victory over the former UFC champion, who was competing in his first ever professional boxing match. Fury’s victory was secured by way of a split-decision, to the anger of many boxing fans and purists who believed the Cameroonian was the one who should have had his hand raised.
While Fury edged the scorecards, Ngannou sent the WBC champion crashing down to the mat with a fierce left hook in the third round. After watching the knockdown back, fans think something was not quite right with the time Fury was given.

One person who watched the fight added a stopwatch which began from the moment Ngannou knocked Fury to the canvas. The Gypsy King did manage to get back to his feet after around five seconds.
However, he was allowed to walk back to his corner and collect his thoughts for a long time. By the time he put his gloves up and was allowed to continue, 23 seconds seemed to have passed. One fan said: “This is mind blowing, boxing needs to sort this out ASAP.”

Another added, “They always give him hella time.” However, other boxing fans are less convinced. “He got up easily, was clearly composed and aware. Responded to the ref etc… where is the controversy,” asked one fan. “Massively clutching at straws lol Fury was completely fine,” a second tweeted.
Normally, Fury is charismatic and cocky after his victories. He has previously taken the microphone and sang a song for his wife Paris immediately after winning in the ring. However, the Gypsy King looked stunned and hurt after the results were confirmed in Saudi Arabia.
The day after the fight, he admitted the Cameroonian gave him one of the toughest fights of his career. "It wasn't the best performance but I am not going to make any excuses; I had a good camp, there was no one to blame,” Fury said after the fight. “It was a tough fight, I had to get off the floor to win and there's no excuses.
"It was a below par performance but take nothing away from the other man, you're only as good as your opponent will let you be, that's a fact… If I'd have listened to the media and the so-called boxing experts saying 'oh it's an easy fight, it's a mismatch, not worth watching' then I wouldn't have been able to win that fight.”
