Joey Barton has shared a clip of his upcoming podcast series amid continued controversy over a series of sexist social media posts by the former footballer.<\/p>\n
Barton has generated\u00a0headlines in recent weeks\u00a0<\/span>for his\u00a0tirade over whether women should be broadcasting in football.<\/p>\n The 41-year-old has also taken aim at BBC presenters, shows and the Sports Personality of the Year award.<\/p>\n He has now promoted his ‘Common Sense with Joey Barton’ podcast, which is expected to launch with weekly episodes in February.<\/p>\n ‘For all those who followed our last podcast series,’ Barton wrote. ‘We have a new series launching in the New Year. ‘Hopefully back to iTunes number 1 spot again.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Joey Barton has promoted the launch of his ‘Common Sense’ podcast with a social media clip<\/p>\n Barton spoke in the clip about being handed an 18 month ban from football for gambling<\/p>\n Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n Barton shared a clip to promote his podcast, where he discussed being banned from football for 18 months with anti-feminist influencer Hannah Pearl Davis. His ban was later reduced by five months on appeal.\u00a0<\/p>\n The former midfielder was banned after being found to have placed 1,260 bets on matches between March 2006 and May 2016, breaching FA Rule E8.<\/p>\n \u2018I retired at 35 because I got banned for gambling,’ Barton said.<\/p>\n \u2018I grew up gambling on football, I\u2019d go to a betting shop with my grandad at like 13 or 14, I\u2019d put two or three horses on and then I put a football coupon.<\/p>\n \u2018I started playing football, but I was a gambler before I was a footballer.<\/p>\n \u2018I had my own online gambling account, so I was betting on all sports right across, including football, so I knew I was breaking the rules eventually. But when I first started there wasn\u2019t the rules and then the rules got tightened.<\/p>\n \u2018I played in the Rangers Glasgow derby and I then had a bet after that on Celtic\u2019s next game against Barcelona. The Scottish FA then give it to the FA, the FA then look historically into the best I\u2019d had.<\/p>\n \u2018I give them all the accounts I said look \u201cthis is what I\u2019ve bet on, I\u2019m being transparent these are all my accounts, I\u2019ve been betting on football and I shouldn\u2019t have been betting on football\u201d\u2019.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Barton’s podcast promotion came amid a series of posts about England goalkeeper Mary Earps<\/p>\n <\/p>\n England star Earps was crowned the BBC Sports Personality of the Year on Tuesday night<\/p>\n Barton ended his playing career after taking over as Fleetwood Town manager in 2018 at the end of his ban.<\/p>\n He has since had a spell in charge of Bristol Rovers, which came to an end when he was sacked in October.<\/p>\n Barton’s podcast co-host\u00a0Hannah Pearl Davis has more than 1.52 million subscribers to her controversial YouTube channel, where she touts her conservative and misogynistic viewpoints.<\/p>\n The 26-year-old content creator saw a spike in popularity this year after the arrest of misogynist influencer Andrew Tate, with whom she shares a number of controversial opinions.<\/p>\n Barton’s sexist views have stoked controversy in recent weeks, including slamming Mary Earps being crowned as BBC Sports Personality of the Year.\u00a0<\/p>\n The former midfielder claimed he would score ‘100 out of 100 penalties’ against the England goalkeeper.\u00a0<\/p>\n It’s All Kicking Off\u00a0is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football, with a show every Monday and Thursday this season.<\/span><\/p>\n It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube , Apple Music and Spotify<\/span><\/p>\n Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n Last week he blamed ‘wokeness’ and ‘poor quality guests’ for the cancellation of the long-running quiz show A Question of Sport.<\/p>\n Barton also renewed his attack on\u00a0Football Focus host Alex Scott by claiming the show would be cancelled, after branding it ‘drivel’ and ‘nonsense’.<\/p>\n Scott took an indirect swipe at Barton on X when promoting her book, How To Be Strong.<\/span><\/p>\n She wrote:\u00a0<\/span>I don’t have a podcast to promote or the need to try use a platform like this to bully and belittle others.
