Manchester United starlet Dan Gore is reportedly attracting interest from Championship outfit Preston ahead of the January transfer window. The midfielder, who is ‘captain material’ according to former coaches and has been likened to Roy Keane, could gain valuable experience on loan in the second tier.

Gore made his United debut in a Carabao Cup victory over Crystal Palace in September. The 19-year-old has not added to that appearance, despite featuring on Erik ten Hag’s substitutes’ bench nine times.

An FA Youth Cup winner in the same United side as Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, Gore is highly-rated at United. However, he remains some way short of earning regular minutes in the senior team at Old Trafford.

A loan spell in the Football League for the second half of the season could be beneficial for his development. According to MEN, Preston are among the clubs who have supposedly expressed an interest in the player.

Preston are eighth in the Championship and sit four points off the play-offs. Although they were smashed 5-1 by ninth-placed Watford at the weekend.

Gore, a boyhood Red Devils fan, joined United’s academy from Burnley in 2018. His former Clarets youth coach Lewis Craig insists that Gore is ‘captain material’ and compared the all-action midfielder with United legend Roy Keane.

“He’s captain material, I’d say. Almost like your old-school Roy Keane type with hard challenges, but he’s got unbelievable quality on the ball because he was a forward in the past as well,” Craig told the same publication.

“In that Under-21 group at United, there have been the likes of Shola Shoretire and Isak Hasen-Aaroen, but it seems like there’s been something missing in them, which doesn’t seem to be the case with Dan.
