It&#8217;s All Kicking Off<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Premier League\u00a0have lodged a formal complaint to FIFA over their failure to consult with leagues and clubs over the expanded 32-team Club World Cup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport revealed the schedule for the new tournament on Saturday, which will see\u00a0Manchester City and Chelsea play up to seven matches in four weeks in the summer of 2025, with the final taking place just three weeks before the start of the following domestic season.<\/p>\n<p>The Premier League are understood to have signed a letter of complaint sent to FIFA by the World Leagues Forum, a lobby group which represents 44 of the top domestic leagues in the world including La Liga, Serie A\u00a0and the Bundesliga.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The strongly-worded letter is believed to accuse FIFA of failing to exercise their responsibilities as the world&#8217;s governing body and to claim that they prioritise their own interests instead by scheduling more matches to generate ever-greater revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The commercial value of the expanded Club World Cup is unclear at present as broadcast rights and sponsorship deals have yet to sold, but with many of the world&#8217;s top clubs including City, Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich\u00a0already qualified it is sure to generate several billion pounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/18\/12\/79084183-12876929-image-a-1_1702903751266.jpg\" height=\"470\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Premier League have lodged a formal complaint with FIFA over the expanded Club World Cup (FIFA head Gianni Infantino pictured)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/18\/12\/79084171-12876929-image-a-3_1702903761166.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Champions League winners Manchester City will compete in the new 32-team tournament<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/18\/12\/79084159-12876929-image-a-2_1702903756145.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The 2021 winners Chelsea are the second English team that could play an extra seven matches<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>FIFA are working towards committing to a prize fund alone of \u00a32billion, with all the clubs taking part to be paid \u00a350m and the winners receiving over \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n<p>In their letter the World League&#8217;s Forum claim that FIFA are ignoring the best interests of the clubs by overloading the calendar and putting the players&#8217;
