{"id":299937,"date":"2023-12-12T17:55:50","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T17:55:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/?p=299937"},"modified":"2023-12-12T17:55:50","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T17:55:50","slug":"jos-buttler-is-confident-englands-new-look-odi-team-can-bounce-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/%d1%81ricket\/jos-buttler-is-confident-englands-new-look-odi-team-can-bounce-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Jos Buttler is confident England&apos;s new-look ODI team can bounce-back"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1> Jos Buttler remains confident England&#8217;s young ODI stars are only at the &#8216;start of a new journey&#8217; as he backs fledgling talents to learn from West Indies series defeat<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>England ODI captain Jos Buttler has backed his team to come back from defeat<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>A new-look England side were beaten by the West Indies in Barbados<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Buttler believes his developing team are only at the &#8216;start of a new journey&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jos Buttler pointed out England are at the &#8216;start of a new journey&#8217; in ODIs and is convinced his inexperienced charges will learn from their series defeat in the West Indies.<\/p>\n<p>England arrived in the Caribbean just a few weeks after a chastening World Cup campaign in India, armed with a number of fringe contenders eager to lay down a marker for the next four-year cycle.<\/p>\n<p>A four-wicket defeat in the series decider in Barbados \u2013 after the teams won one game each in Antigua \u2013 was not how England captain Buttler wanted the post-World Cup reset to get under way.<\/p>\n<p>Buttler, however, sees the bigger picture and believes everyone will be much better for how the last week has unfolded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There&#8217;s been some good performances throughout the way,&#8217; he said. &#8216;We&#8217;re obviously disappointed to lose the series. The guys will be better for this one.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/11\/78787677-12847037-image-a-1_1702207066652.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jos Buttler pointed out England are at the &#8216;start of a new journey&#8217; after their ODI series defeat against West Indies<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/11\/78787675-12847037-image-a-2_1702207070288.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>A battling West Indies side inflicted a first defeat on England since the recent ODI World Cup<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The series is the start of a new journey for this team. You can&#8217;t get experience if you don&#8217;t give people experience to play and be in those situations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s a very young side barring myself in terms of experience in the number of caps, so guys will have taken a lot from this and learned a lot. We have given them exposure and given them opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There is a hell of a lot of talent and depth and guys will get better and better. I&#8217;m looking forward. Times change, things move on and it&#8217;s very important to look forward.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>England lost what seemed a crucial toss and lurched to 49 for five on a tricky pitch with unpredictable bounce although Buttler gave his wicket away with an ill-judged hook to depart for a golden duck.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Duckett&#8217;s classy 71 off 73 balls led a revival and he shared an 88-run stand with Liam Livingstone, who contributed 45 to England&#8217;s 206 for nine in 40 overs \u2013 reduced because of rain interruptions.<\/p>\n<p>Another downpour left the Windies with a Duckworth-Lewis-Stern adjusted target of 188 in 34 overs, where they lurched from 99 for two to 135 for six after Will Jacks&#8217; unlikely three wicket-haul.<\/p>\n<p>The big-hitting all-rounder took his tally of ODI wickets from one to four in his seventh match but when he and Rehan Ahmed had bowled their allotted overs, Buttler returned to paceman Gus Atkinson.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/11\/78787699-12847037-image-a-5_1702207142102.jpg\" height=\"459\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Gus Atkinson struggled with his evening bowling spell as England came undone<\/p>\n<p>Having taken two wickets earlier, Atkinson perhaps struggled in the evening dew and a tense finish, in which the Windies needed 33 in the last four overs, dissipated as he conceded 24 in six balls.<\/p>\n<p>Romario Shepherd&#8217;s belligerent 41 not out off 28 balls got the Windies over the line with 14 deliveries to spare as they celebrated their first home series win over England in ODIs since 1998.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s always going to be tough for the death bowlers here with how wet it is and the short boundary with the wind,&#8217; Buttler said. &#8216;But that&#8217;s where you give people the exposure to it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We were always going to be a little bit short, I think. But we showed some great fight with the ball \u2013 Will Jacks had an outstanding spell, which was a real positive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/11\/78787673-12847037-image-a-3_1702207079936.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Buttler believes this new-look England ODI team will have learnt from their experience against the West Indies<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/10\/11\/78787713-12847037-image-a-6_1702207205961.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The series in Barbados\u00a0was England&#8217;s last ODI assignment until September next year<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He&#8217;s a great asset to a team the way he bats at the top, getting us off to a flyer and bowling seven overs is going to be huge for him in his development as a player and what he can offer to the side.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>This was England&#8217;s last ODI assignment until September \u2013 they now turn their attentions to a five-match T20 series which acts as pivotal preparation for the 2024 World Cup in the Caribbean and United States.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The schedules of cricket are quite challenging,&#8217;
