Scott McTominay admits the Manchester United dressing-room has been \u2018toxic at times\u2019 but insists the players are fully behind under-pressure manager Erik ten Hag.<\/p>\n
The Dutchman faces a critical week of fixtures as United meet Bayern Munich in their final Champions League group tie at Old Trafford on Tuesday night with their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage hanging by a thread.<\/p>\n
Ten Hag\u2019s side then go to Anfield on Sunday where he suffered a humiliating 7-0 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Liverpool in March.<\/p>\n
It has raised renewed fears over Ten Hag\u2019s future as Sir Jim Ratcliffe prepares to complete his \u00a31.25billion investment in the club, but McTominay insists he has the support of the dressing-room.<\/p>\n
\u2018It is the players\u2019 responsibility, first and foremost, the players know that as well,\u2019 said McTominay. \u2018We have had many amazing players and right now we are at the stage where we have big characters in the dressing-room.<\/p>\n

\u2018It is not just a case of like some of the other managers where it has been a little bit toxic at times, the boys are firmly behind the manager. That is the way it will stay.<\/p>\n
\u2018We have got an amazing coaching staff as well so it can get lost in translation with what the players think and what is said behind closed doors, we just want to do well for the football club.\u2019<\/p>\n
McTominay believes he is indebted to Ten Hag for helping to resurrect his Old Trafford career after he had the opportunity to leave for West Ham in the summer. The Scotland international has forced his way back into the team after injuries gave him an opportunity, and is the top scorer on six goals.<\/p>\n
\u2018There\u2019s always speculation and different things surrounding every player,\u2019 he added. \u2018You have to perform to stay there, I\u2019ve known that since being a young boy watching the senior pros here and the academy players. For me, it was get my head down and work hard.<\/p>\n
\u2018The faith in the manager has been a massive one for me. You want to repay that when you get minutes. That\u2019s the life of a footballer, you will get ups and downs, and it\u2019s not always sunshine and rainbows. When I get the opportunity I want to take it.\u2019<\/p>\n
