Pep Guardiola has astonishingly claimed he will ‘retire’ from management if Manchester City secure the Treble again this season.<\/p>\n
The Spaniard’s contract at the reigning Premier League, FA Cup, and European champions expires in 2025 but has hinted he will retire before then if City achieve the incredible feat.<\/p>\n
City ended their wait for a first Champions League trophy last season and became only the second team to record the fabled Treble after cross-city rivals Man United.<\/p>\n
‘If we win the treble this season, I’ll retire. That’s for sure,’ Guardiola told Amazon Prime prior to City’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa\u00a0on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
‘I know it is extremely difficult, how many incredible teams have been in England and just one with Sir Alex Ferguson has done it and ourselves last season.<\/p>\n

‘When we spoke, prepare well for the first game and how we try to do it and then the second and now the third.<\/p>\n
‘We will see our level and the competition itself dictates your level, the opponent dictates, the challenge is higher but in September, October, November, thinking about the title, forget about it.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Guardiola’s future remains the subject of intrigued debate with many expecting him to leave English football when his current contract expires.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Guardiola guided City to the Treble last season with the Champions League their final trophy of the bunch<\/p>\n
Previous successful spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich prior to moving to Manchester leaves Italy and France as the only top European leagues where Guardiola is yet to manage.<\/p>\n
City face an increasingly difficult task to lift silverware this season with rival Premier League teams increasing in quality after City stormed to the title last season.<\/p>\n
Arsenal have improved after running the champions close last season with Mikel Arteta’s side currently top of the English top-flight standings.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Tottenham, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle are all hot on their heels after similarly strong starts this season.<\/p>\n
