Declan Rice snatched a late 4-3 away victory for Arsenal against Luton Town with a header in the last seconds of the game.

Rob Edwards' spirited Tangerines came from behind twice and even took a 3-2 lead against Mikel Arteta's Premier League chasing Gunners. As the match entered the sixth minute of added time, Town thought they had battled their way to a much deserved point against the Gunners.

However, a clumsy foul in Luton's half gave Arsenal one last opportunity to launch the ball in the penalty area. It was from that moment Rice rose highest and headed home what could be a season defining winner.

Town tried to clear their lines, but could only get the ball as far as Martin Odegaard on the halfway line.

After the Norwegian brought the ball forward, he exchanged a one-two with Oleksandr Zinchenko and whipped the ball into the penalty area for the £104million man to flick into the far corner.

It was far from being a title winning performance from the Gunners, who struggled to kill the game off when they were in control.

They took the lead through a close range strike from Gabriel Martinelli, but were immediately pegged back by a powerful header from Gabriel Osho.

After Gabriel Jesus headed home a wonderful cross from Ben White, they found themselves level again when David Raya flapped at a corner and allowed Elijah Adebayo to head into an open goal.

The Spanish goalkeeper was then at fault when Edwards' side took the lead, as he allowed a low effort from Ross Barkley to slip beneath his body.

Kai Havertz then poked in his third goal in as many matches to bring Arsenal back level and trigger a huge onslaught on the Luton goal.

However, the Gunners found a way through thanks to Rice's header in the 96th minute. While they have played a game more than Liverpool and Manchester City, the Gunners have opened up a five point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

After the match, Arteta said: "So happy. We knew it would be a big battle here, we made it hard for ourselves the way we conceded the goals. The spirit of the team, how we fought, showed our quality in the right moments and never gave up. We went for it and got our rewards today.

"Credit to them [Luton]. Their delivery was excellent, the finishing was excellent and sometimes you have to credit the opponent. Big compliments to them, it was a tough night."
