Bruce, Robson, Keane would never allow this &#8211; It&#8217;s All Kicking Off\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Former Manchester United star John O&#8217;Shea has opened up on the infamous Highbury tunnel row between Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira in 2005, revealing how &#8216;clever&#8217; Gary Neville was in the dressing room before kick-off.<\/p>\n<p>Reigning champions Arsenal and serial Premier League winners Manchester United met at Highbury in February 2005, and the fierce clash was preceded by a tempestuous bust-up between the two former captains.<\/p>\n<p>The incident was sparked by Vieira picking a fight with Keane&#8217;s team-mate Neville, who told the Manchester United dressing room before kick-off about his altercation with the Arsenal midfielder.<\/p>\n<p>As the players prepared to walk out on to the pitch, furious Keane was heard firing expletives and pointing aggressively at the Gunners captain.<\/p>\n<p>O&#8217;Shea, now part of Wayne Rooney&#8217;s coaching staff at Birmingham, has opened up on the incident, explaining how &#8216;clever&#8217; Neville managed to bait the passionate reaction out of his captain.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/05\/09\/78588123-12826847-image-a-1_1701767698328.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>John O&#8217;Shea has opened up on the Highbury tunnel row between Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira in 2005. The ex-Manchester United captain is pictured firing expletives at the Arsenal star<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/05\/09\/78588119-12826847-image-a-2_1701767762158.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Keane (right) was incensed after Vieira (left) picked a fight with his team-mate Gary Neville<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I was on the bench that night,&#8217; O&#8217;Shea told Off The Ball, reflecting on the Red Devils&#8217; 4-2 win. &#8216;But the best thing was how clever Gary Neville was just before kick-off in the dressing room.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He just happens to quietly mention, &#8220;Patrick Vieira&#8217;s pinned me up inside the tunnel, saying I&#8217;m going to get it tonight after kicking (Jose Antonio) Reyes up at Old Trafford&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Next thing, everyone&#8217;s like, &#8220;What, what happened?&#8221;, and of course Roy was just stone silent. The brain just going into overdrive thinking okay, here we go.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Didn&#8217;t say a word to anybody and then walked out and did what he did.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vieira opened the scoring for Arsenal in the fierce clash before Ashley Cole&#8217;s own goal put United on level terms.<\/p>\n<p>The Gunners regained their advantage ahead of half time through Dennis Bergkamp, but a quickfire double from Cristiano Ronaldo early in the second half fired the Red Devils 3-2 ahead.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/05\/09\/78588177-12826847-image-m-4_1701767815563.jpg\" height=\"432\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Keane and Vieira, who regularly locked horns in the midfield, are pictured jostling for the ball in September 2003 at Old Trafford, the season before their infamous Highbury tunnel row<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/05\/09\/78588257-12826847-image-a-5_1701767950552.jpg\" height=\"494\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>O&#8217;Shea celebrates after scoring the final goal in Man United&#8217;s 4-2 win over Arsenal at Highbury<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/05\/09\/78588381-12826847-image-a-16_1701768118234.jpg\" height=\"459\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Vieira told Neville he was &#8216;going to get it&#8217; before the match, after the former Manchester United right-back delivered a crunching tackle on Jose Antonio Reyes at Old Trafford in 2004<\/p>\n<p>Mikael Silvestre&#8217;s red card reduced United to 10 men with just over 20 minutes to play, setting up a tense finish, before O&#8217;Shea chipped Manuel Almunia in the 88th minute to seal the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Straight after the match, Keane was asked about the bust-up in the tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I don&#8217;t want to go into too much detail but Patrick Vieira&#8217;s 6ft 4, starts having a go on Gary Neville. I said, &#8220;Come and have a go at me&#8221;. Simple as that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;If players want to intimidate some of my team-mates, let&#8217;s have a go at some of the other players. They think Gary Neville&#8217;s an easy target.
