Premier League fans have taken to social media to express their shock as\u00a0Stuart Attwell allowed Bernd Leno to stay on the pitch despite receiving a knee to the face from Luis Diaz.<\/p>\n
The pair collided, with Leno’s right eye appearing to shut after the incident.<\/p>\n
However, he played on before Alexis Mac Allister netted a sensational strike against him to restore Liverpool’s lead in the first half.<\/p>\n
Fans have since taken to social media to discuss the decision from the referee, as many believe that he should have been forced off.<\/p>\n
‘How is Leno still allowed to be on the pitch with one functioning eye?’ asked one fan.<\/p>\n

The incident happened in the first half, with the goalkeeper allowed to continue<\/p>\n

After receiving treatment, Leno was back up but had a clear swollen eye<\/p>\n
Several other supporters agreed with the sentiment, with one attempting to reach out to Fulham and the FA on X.<\/p>\n
They wrote: Leno\u00a0should be taken off.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘He is having early panda eye sign of the right eye. He needs to be evaluated in a hospital with appropriate scans needed.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another fan couldn’t believe what he was witnessing, saying: ‘How have the officials let Leno play on there? He can\u2019t see out of his right eye!’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Leno was urged to rest by a Tottenham fan, who was watching the game before his side face Manchester City.<\/p>\n

‘Leno can’t even open his right eye just rest bro,’ he wrote.<\/p>\n
Another felt sympathy for the goalkeeper as he said: ‘I pity Leno. He’s using\u00a0eye to keep shots away from Mac Allister, Szobo and Trent!’<\/p>\n
However, not everyone was as concerned for the Fulham shot-stopper as a Liverpool fan urged his side to take advantage of the goalkeeper’s struggle.<\/p>\n
‘Need Mo and braid Darwin to score, they said.<\/p>\n
‘Leno has one eye there\u2019s no excuses.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Marco Silva will no doubt be questioned about the decision to keep his goalkeeper on the pitch.\u00a0<\/p>\n
