Stars attend green carpet for Ronnie O'Sullivan documentary

The UK Championship quarter-finals are upon us and it is set to be a blockbuster day at the Barbican in York, with Ronnie O’Sullivan among those in action on Friday. The Rocket is aiming for his record-extending eighth title but first has to overcome Chinese star Zhou Yuelong for a place in the final four.

O’Sullivan is first up and will be hoping for a better day than Thursday, despite defeating Robert Milkins. He won on the deciding frame but insisted he “stunk it out” and uncharacteristically missed several simple shots which he would have expected to put away.

Hossein Vafaei takes on Zhang Anda at the other table at 1.00pm and the Iranian star could potentially rekindle his rivalry with the Rocket if he progresses to the semi-finals.

Later on this evening, Mark Williams will battle Ding Junhui and Mark Selby takes on Judd Trump in what is sure to be another exciting day of snooker in store.

    Higgins walked out

John Higgins sensationally walked out of his last 16 match with Zhou Yuelong yesterday, before his defeat was confirmed.

Down 5-3, Higgins had an issue with the light from the TV studio and had a word with umpire Tatiana Woollaston.

He then shortly left the table mid-shot as he put his cue down and walked away, later returning before his loss was confirmed.

    O’Sullivan not happy

Ronnie O’Sullivan was not impressed with his own performance yesterday, despite beating Robert Milkins 6-5 to reach the quarter-finals.

After missing a handful of shots that the Rocket would have expected to make, he insisted that he “stunk it out” and will need to improve to make the final four.

“It was a tough start. I was missing balls over the gaff,” he told Eurosport.

“I had to dig my way out of it somehow. Even at 4-2, I never felt settled. There was no flow, I was mis-timing shots, I was butchering balls all over the gaff.

“If that carries on, it doesn’t matter how big your lead is if the other guy starts to pot a few together you’re going to be in trouble. That’s always not a good feeling.

“Sometimes you’ve got to show your frustration and then say ‘forget it, it’s done’.
