{"id":298834,"date":"2023-11-30T16:25:24","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T16:25:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/?p=298834"},"modified":"2023-11-30T16:25:24","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T16:25:24","slug":"cricket-minnows-qualify-for-the-t20-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/%d1%81ricket\/cricket-minnows-qualify-for-the-t20-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Cricket minnows qualify for the T20 World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Uganda qualify for the T20 World Cup in miracle result with cricket minnows set to rub shoulders with Australia, England and India in the US and West Indies in 2024\u00a0<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Uganda have qualified for the T20 World Cup\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>They have displaced Zimbabwe at the tournament\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Uganda will rub shoulders with the biggest names\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Uganda will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jos Buttler and Glenn Maxwell\u00a0 after securing its place in a global cricket tournament for the first time after beating Rwanda in African qualifying for next year&#8217;s T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>The country of 50 million in East Africa got into the expanded 20-team competition, being co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States in June, at the expense of Zimbabwe &#8211; an established cricketing nation.<\/p>\n<p>Uganda defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets on Sunday for its first ever win over a Full Member team in a T20 international, and followed that up by dismissing Rwanda for 65 then reaching its target in 8.1 overs in Windhoek, Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It is pretty surreal,&#8217; Uganda captain Brian Masaba said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/30\/15\/78428437-12809639-image-a-2_1701359099899.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Uganda have qualified for the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup next year<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/30\/15\/78428299-12809639-image-a-1_1701359002216.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The African nation have qualified at the expense of Zimbabwe for the tournament<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I can&#8217;t put words to the emotions we are feeling now as a team. It&#8217;s massive for Ugandan cricket and huge for African cricket, especially, for a country like Uganda to make it to the World Cup.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Namibia has also advanced through African qualifying to complete a lineup of teams that also contains Oman, Nepal, Papua New Guinea and Canada.
