Christian Horner has risked further angst from Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes after suggesting that it’s only natural for the 38-year-old to consider his options given that his last F1 race win came over two years ago. Horner caused a stir this week when he claimed that Hamilton had made an approach earlier this year to sound out a possible move to Red Bull alongside Sergio Perez.<\/p>\n
The Red Bull team principal has since backtracked on those remarks, suggesting it was Anthony Hamilton who made inquiries. But his comments have still not sat well with Hamilton, who branded Horner “lonely” for trying to stir the pot at Mercedes.<\/p>\n
Toto Wolff was also exasperated by Horner’s comments, adding: \u201cI just don\u2019t know what drives the guy. “We just don\u2019t understand his thinking to come up with these things.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now Horner has risked more anger from the Mercedes camp by pointing out Hamilton’s winless streak as a potential reason why a conversation would be had over his future.<\/p>\n

“Lewis hasn’t won a race for two years,” he told Sky Sports. “You can understand questions being asked.<\/p>\n
“It’s entirely logical and normal for those types of things to happen. We’ve always had a great relationship with Anthony, he’s a very nice guy… but there is no seat available so it’s really a non-story.<\/p>\n
