F1 rookie Jack Doohan narrowly avoided the "biggest accident of his life" in practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Aussie, 20, took Esteban Ocon's Alpine seat for first practice of the final race weekend of the season on Friday (November 24). On one of his hot laps he came around the penultimate corner and was confronted by the Williams of Logan Sargeant on the racing line.

American Sargeant, 22, who finds himself bottom of the standings in his debut season, was completely unaware he was blocking the path of Doohan, who had to take swift evasive action to not drive into the back of him.
