<\/p>\nCo-owner Rob McElhenney sent Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson an uplifting message \u2013 minutes after they\u2019d been drubbed 5-0. <\/p>\n
Wrexham\u2019s National League title success under their Hollywood owners McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds was one of the stories of last season. However, the club\u2019s long-awaited return to the EFL got off to a rocky start as they shipped five goals three times in the space of nine games. <\/p>\n
In September, they were trounced 5-0 by Stockport, the club\u2019s heaviest defeat for a decade. Many club owners, especially those who had spent heavily, would have been furious at such a result. <\/p>\n

However, McElhenney, who had been following the game from his home in California, felt it was the right time to put a metaphorical arm around Parkinson\u2019s shoulder. He sent him a message which read: \u201cPhil, we are right behind you. We are right with you.\u201d<\/p>\n
McElhenney told The Athletic: \u201cI sent that text before the final whistle. I wanted to make sure he knew, as soon as he got back to the locker room, that we had his back. <\/p>\n

Wrexham have tightened up since then and are firmly in the League Two promotion shake-up. However, it hasn\u2019t been plain sailing for the Welshmen, who were beaten 2-0 at Accrington Stanley on Saturday.<\/p>\n
