Liverpool ace Mo Salah and the rest of his Egyptian team-mates were caught up in some scary scenes during their World Cup qualifier against Sierre Leone as pitch invaders rushed the field.

In footage that has since emerged from the game, fans invaded the pitch at the end of the contest, rushing towards the Reds star and his team-mates.

Security staff could be seen in hot pursuit of those who ran onto the pitch, with them delivering heavy blows to the fans who tried to get close to Salah and co. Thankfully, the Liverpool forward was unharmed with Salah dragged away by a team-mate as the chaotic scenes unfolded.

And it isn't the first time the Egyptian forward has been confronted by pitch invaders either. Back in November 2021, Salah was the target of three separate pitch invaders during Egypt's 2-2 draw with Angola.

And in the same month whilst playing for Liverpool, he was also confronted at Anfield by a fan who tried to grab a photo with Salah during Liverpool's 4-0 win over Southampton.

In the end, Egypt prevailed from the contest against Sierre Leone, with former Aston Villa winger Trezeguet bagging himself a brace in the World Cup qualifier.

With Salah and co having won their first qualifier on Thursday against Djibouti, in a game that saw the Liverpool star bag four goals to help his side to a 6-0 win, Egypt now sit top of the Group A African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

And after what has been a successful international break for Salah and co, the 31-year-old will return to Merseyside as Liverpool prepare for their huge Premier League clash against Manchester City next Saturday.

But it won't be long until Salah returns to link up with the Egyptian national team either. January will see the Liverpool ace compete in the African Cup of Nations, which is being held in the Ivory Coast this year.

And Salah and Egypt will be searching for revenge this time around too after the 2022 edition of the tournament saw them defeated in the final by Sadio Mane and Senegal.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw during regular and extra-time, with penalties proving the difference between the two. And it was Mane who stepped up to score the decisive spot kick for Senegal.
