Wolves are in talks with forward Hwang Hee-Chan over a new deal with the club after his impressive start to the season.

The South Korean’s current deal runs out in 2026, but according to David Ornstein of the The Athletic, Wolves want to extend his current contract and offer the forward improved terms.

Discussions with the 27-year-old are said to moving on amicably, with Hwang happy playing under Gary O’Neil and willing to sign on the dotted line if the terms are right for him.

Hwang has scored seven goals in 13 games this season, including the winner against treble winners Manchester City in September.

His goals have made him the first Wolves player since Derek Dougan in the 1970s to net six times in the opening ten games of a new campaign.

The forward move to Molineux from RB Leipzig on an initial loan deal in 2021, before the deal was made permanent ahead of the following campaign.

Before this season the South Korean had scored nine goals in 63 appearances for the midlands club, but looks on course to beat that total in one campaign after his displays so far this season.

He has 12 goals in 58 appearances for his country and scored against Portugal in last year’s World Cup as South Korea made it to the last 16 of the tournament.

Hwang’s goals have seen Wolves become one of the surprises of the season, with many having tipped the side to struggle in the Premier League, especially with O’Neil being appointed just days before the club’s opening fixture.

However, the club currently sit in 12th place in the table and O’Neil has been praised for his tactical approach, having scored wins over City and last weekend’s victory against Tottenham.
