Manchester United fans fear that they'll bare the wrath of Everton in their next game after the club was handed a 10-point deduction by the Premier League.

The Merseyside club were stunningly docked 10 points after the findings from an independent commission, who heard the case over the club’s breach of profit and sustainability rules, were published on Friday (November 17). Everton were referred by the Premier League to an independent commission in March and the results mean that they move from 14th to 19th in the table with just four points on the board.

It's a crushing blow for Sean Dyche and his side who had begun to find their groove with three wins in their last five games. Everton now have to take on the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester City over the next month in a run of fixtures that could define their season and whether they say goodbye to the Premier League.

They will return to Goodison Park upon the end of the international break where they'll host United and fans of the Red Devils aren't entirely confident of their team's chances of grabbing a result away from home.

Some supporters suggested that Everton's devastating news will only make them more motivated to defeat United as one X user wrote: "Man United is Everton next opponent it’s going to be a tough match because Everton will pour out their vexation of their deducted points" while another commented: "We are playing Everton next. I have seen this movie".

A third user was despondent about United's chances as they said: "Everton plays United next. You know what that means". In response to the 10-point deduction, Everton swiftly released a statement where they announced their intention to appeal the decision to the Premier League.

"Everton Football Club is both shocked and disappointed by the ruling of the Premier League’s Commission. The Club believes that the Commission has imposed a wholly disproportionate and unjust sporting sanction," it read."The Club has already communicated its intention to appeal the decision to the Premier League.

"The appeal process will now commence and the Club’s case will be heard by an Appeal Board appointed pursuant to the Premier League’s rules in due course."
