{"id":297222,"date":"2023-11-14T11:39:31","date_gmt":"2023-11-14T11:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/?p=297222"},"modified":"2023-11-14T11:39:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-14T11:39:31","slug":"lta-member-sacked-for-saying-hitler-would-be-proud-of-israel-pm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/tennis\/lta-member-sacked-for-saying-hitler-would-be-proud-of-israel-pm\/","title":{"rendered":"LTA member sacked for saying &#8216;Hitler would be proud&#8217; of Israel PM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/72\/590x\/secondary\/Wasim-Haq-5065072.jpg?r=1699959282208\"><\/p>\n<p>The Lawn Tennis Association has axed an independent council member for saying that Adolf Hitler would be proud of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.\u00a0Wasim Haq,\u00a0who was appointed by the governing body in 2021 to help promote diversity within tennis, was sacked on Monday for his social media post, a statement from the LTA confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The LTA Board considered this matter today and agreed that the tweet posted by Wasim Haq on 11 November was unacceptable and in no way reflects the LTA&#8217;s position or values,&#8221; the statement began.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Therefore the Board have agreed that Wasim Haq will be removed from his role as an independent councillor with immediate effect.&#8221; Haq\u00a0has since deleted his post on X, formerly Twitter, which read: \u201cNetanyahu has sacrificed his own people to maintain power\u2026whilst #Palestinians are trying to maintain their sanity. Adolf Hitler would be proud of Benjamin Netanyahu.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Haq has also been\u00a0suspended as a Football Association council member pending an investigation as of Tuesday.
