<\/p>\nRyan Reynolds said he felt like he was going to "throw up" after learning how much money he and Rob McElhenney lost since taking over Wrexham.<\/p>\n
Reynolds, together with his Hollywood actor pal McElhenney, bought the club back in 2020. The takeover, and subsequent investment made by the pair, sparked immediate success both on and off the field, culminating in Wrexham's promotion back into the Football League earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Their time at the Welsh club has been documented by the increasingly-popular Welcome to Wrexham<\/i> series, which has brought Wrexham previously-unimaginable international acclaim. During an episode in season two, which began airing in September, Wrexham executive director Humphrey Ker warned the actors that they'd lost "loads" of money since they bought the club.<\/p>\n

When Reynolds and McElhenney pushed for a figure, board member Shaun Harvey gave them an estimate of "more than \u00a310million". In response, Reynolds said: "I'm going to throw up."<\/p>\n
McElhenney then asked when the duo can expect to make money from the club, to which Harvey replied: "The value that's coming from the global appeal we've been able to create is going to offset those additional costs that we've created. The biggest thing that will change on promotion [is that] people can see the value of Welcome to Wrexham<\/i>."<\/p>\n

It was also explained to the owners that they'd receive "a lot more" than \u00a310m if they decided to sell Wrexham – a notion that McElhenney dismissed, suggesting that he and Reynolds had plans to remain at the club "for life".<\/p>\n
The Red Dragons are currently flying in League Two following a bit of shaky start to their return to the Football League in 15 years. They're in third-place at the moment, five points behind league-leaders Stockport and level on points with second-placed Notts County, who were promoted alongside them last season.<\/p>\n
