But after the week Arsenal have endured, they\u2019ll take this win and move swiftly on.<\/p>\n<p>Barring a complete capitulation, Arsenal should now qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.<\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/20\/77573299-12726899-image-a-1_1699476638228.jpg\" height=\"464\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Leandro Trossard scored in the 30th minute after a dominant opening half hour from Arsenal<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/08\/21\/77575493-12726899-image-a-2_1699479507393.jpg\" height=\"432\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Bukayo Saka made it two in the second half after a brilliant solo effort to double the ascendancy<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Following their seven year hiatus, that achievement shouldn\u2019t be underestimated.<\/p>\n<h3>MATCH FACTS<\/h3>\n<p>Arsenal (4-3-3-): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu (Zinchenko 45&#8242;); Havertz, Jorginho (Elneny 90&#8242;), Rice; Saka (Kiwior 85&#8242;), Trossard (Vieira 80&#8242;), Martinelli (Nelson 80&#8242;)<\/p>\n<p>Subs: Ramsdale, C\u00e9dric, Hein, Cozier-Duberry, Sagoe<\/p>\n<p>Goal: Trossard 30&#8242;, Saka 64&#8242;<\/p>\n<p>Booked: Zinchenko, Rice\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Manager: Mikel Arteta\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sevilla (4-2-3-1):\u00a0Dmitrovic; S\u00e1nchez, Bad\u00e9, Gudelj, Salas (Ocampos 76&#8242;); Jord\u00e1n (Soumare 65&#8242;, Mariano 73&#8242;), Reges; Lamela, Sow (Rakitic 65&#8242;), Pedrosa (Nianzou 76&#8242;); En-Nesyri<\/p>\n<p>Subs: Gattoni, Suso, Mir, Lukebakio, Navas, Torres, Flores<\/p>\n<p>Booked: Soumare, Juanlu, Ocampos<\/p>\n<p>Manager: Diego Alonso\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Referee: Istvan Kovacs\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And after days of hyperbole which have thrown into question Arsenal&#8217;s integrity, the most pleasing aspect of this victory for Arteta will be that he can draw a line under the ugly episode knowing his side let their football do the talking.<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal swarmed Sevilla in a fashion as ferocious as their manager\u2019s tirade on Saturday during the opening exchanges here last night.<\/p>\n<p>Kai Havertz should have opened the scoring inside a minute, but horribly mistimed a free header at the back post from Gabriel Martinelli\u2019s corner before Gabriel Magalhaes nodded his own effort off target soon after.<\/p>\n<p>Martinelli, in particular, was enjoying a dynamite opening &#8211; his direct competitor Juanlu defeated time and again by the Brazil attacker\u2019s unstoppable combination of close control and pace.<\/p>\n<p>On the opposite flank, Kike Salas was having similar trouble with Bukayo Saka. Arsenal were purring, blistering down both wings &#8211; industrious and inventive through the centre of the park.<\/p>\n<p>Sevilla could barely catch their breath.<\/p>\n<p>Ben White, Jorginho, and Saka all peppered the opposition goal with shots in the opening 25 minutes as the La Liga club as Arsenal pressed for the opener their start warranted.<\/p>\n<p>The inevitable breakthrough arrived in the 29th minute; Trossard routinely finishing beyond Marko Dmitrovic following Saka\u2019s square pass.<\/p>\n<p>The goal owed plenty to the power of Declan Rice, who stole possession off opposing captain Fernando, and Jorginho, whose pass into Saka\u2019s path compounded what had already been a miserable night for Sevilla left-back Salas.<\/p>\n<p>After a week where the talk has overshadowed Arsenal\u2019s football, this goal arrived as a welcome return to normality.<\/p>\n<p>And that should be the real regret for Arteta after what has been a tumultuous few days. Where was this Arsenal at St James\u2019 Park? If this Arsenal had showed up, then perhaps we could have avoided this hoo-ha. That wouldn\u2019t have been lost on the Gunners boss.<\/p>\n<p>If there was one regret for Arteta at half-time then it would have been the threat of letting Sevilla off the hook.<\/p>\n<p>His team\u2019s dominance had bared fruit, but not enough to put Sevilla out of reach.<\/p>\n<p>Like the opening 45 minutes it was Havertz who squandered the first chance after the restart, his shot charged down by Juanlu after another one of Saka\u2019s dynamic surges forward before the German flashed a vicious shot narrowly wide in the 55th minute.<\/p>\n<p>Martinelli, assisted down the left by Oleksandr Zinchenko in the second half following Takehiro Tomiyasu\u2019s substitution at half-time, continued to treat Juanlu like a training ground mannequin; while Saka was &#8211; well &#8211; being Saka.<\/p>\n<p>Gareth Southgate, who names his England squad on Thursday afternoon, was in attendance here.<\/p>\n<p>Having lost Saka for last month\u2019s international fixtures, Southgate would have enjoyed his visit to north London. Not that he needed any reminding of Saka\u2019s brilliance.<\/p>\n<p>Trossard bent a shot narrowly wide in the 60th minute, following decisive combination play from Rice and Martinelli.<\/p>\n<p>Much like the first-half this encounter was only going one way. Arsenal\u2019s second duly arrived in the 63rd minute.<\/p>\n<p>Unsurprisingly, Martinelli and Saka were at the heart of it; the former feeding the latter with a perfectly timed pass to set the England international free.<\/p>\n<p>This time around it was Adria Pedrosa\u2019s turn to look silly; Saka turning inside him before unleashing an unstoppable low strike past Dmitrovic.<\/p>\n<p>With that unmistakable smile; Saka wheeled away to receive the adulation from his team-mates.<\/p>\n<p>If there was any doubt over how Arsenal would react to their perceived injustice on Tyneside, then there really shouldn\u2019t have been.<\/p>\n<p>This was a resounding riposte. Of course, Sevilla weren\u2019t providing much of a challenge, although Arteta will argue his team didn\u2019t give them the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>And he\u2019d be right; his team were excellent.
