The FA Cup second round draw gets underway after Chesterfield’s match against Portsmouth and Isthmian League South East side Ramsgate will no doubt be glued to their screens. The Kent side kept their dream run alive with a shock win over National League side Woking on Saturday.

They’re the lowest-ranked side definietly through to the second round, although fellow eighth-tier team Cray Valley will also be in the draw as they face Charlton later today. The prize money available to these clubs can be life changing, but also the prospect of a televised game at home against a big team can also be huge.

Teams such as Bolton, Wigan, Charlton, Derby, Reading and Blackpool are all sides who could attract a big draw as former Premier League sides. Express Sport will be on hand to provide live updates from the draw as it happens.

Welcome FA Cup fans

The FA Cup may still be dominated by Premier League teams with upsets more and more a thing of the past.

But the second round still captures the imagination of football fans up and down the country as they attach themselves to their local non-league side embarking on a dream run.

For today’s draw that will be the case for several teams up and down the country with clubs all the way down to the eighth tier still in the competition.

Ramsgate and Cray Valley are the lowest-ranked teams still in the competition, although the latter have the small matter of trying to beat Charlton this evening to get through to the second round proper.

It’s time to dream for them now with the prospect of facing a Premier League giant in the next round.

The draw will take place around 2.30pm and Express Sport is on hand to provide live updates.
