British fighter Modestas Bukauskas suffered a brutal KO defeat against Vitor Petrino at UFC Sao Paulo on Saturday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 29-year-old took to the octagon for his seventh fight in the UFC and his third since re-signing with the organisation at the start of the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, things did not go to plan for the British and Lithuanian fighter, who was dealt a brutal KO defeat in the second round of the bout.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Bukauskas stepped into a left-hook from his opponent and was sent crashing down to the canvas, with referee Marc Goddard swiftly intervening to end the bout.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The result sees Bukauskas suffer his first defeat since re-joining the UFC, having initially been released by the organisation in October 2021.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old was caught by a huge left-hook during the second round of their fight<\/p>\n

Bukauskas suffered his first defeat since re-signing with the UFC earlier this year<\/p>\n
After the fight, Brazilian star Petrino said:\u00a0‘The strategy was to put on a show. I wanted to knock him out as soon as possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I’ve gotten a submission, I’ve gotten a bonus so I told my coach I wanted a knockout.’<\/p>\n
The light heavyweight star now boasts a 10-0 professional record, after winning his opening three fights in the UFC.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In the card’s main event, Derrick Lewis suffered a unanimous decision defeat against Jailton Almeida\u00a0on Saturday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 38-year-old was searching for a successive win in the UFC heavyweight division, having secured a TKO victory over\u00a0Marcos Rog\u00e9rio de Lima in his last bout.\u00a0<\/p>\n
However, things did not go to plan for the American, who was dealt a fourth defeat in his last five UFC bouts after a dominant grappling display from Almeida.<\/p>\n
The Brazilian controlled most of the fight on the ground, with his\u00a021:10 control time setting a new single-fight UFC heavyweight record.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lewis had no answer to his counterparts grappling and wrestling skills, leading the judges to score the bout unanimously in Almeida’s favour, 50-44 50-44 50-45.<\/p>\n
