Coleen Rooney has opened up about Wayne\u2019s bouts of depression and dealing with the couple\u2019s fame. <\/p>\n
The Manchester United and England legend\u2019s wife has been in the spotlight herself over the last 20 years, ever since he burst onto the scene with Everton as a 16-year-old. She is about to release her own autobiography which will chart her ups and downs with Wayne, which have so often ended up in the media. <\/p>\n
In an interview to promote the book, Coleen said Wayne had sometimes \u201cgone off the rails\u201d and turned to alcohol as he tried to deal with his immense fame. And the now-Birmingham City boss still struggles with his mental health, says his childhood sweetheart.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill to this day he has it [depression] \u2013 everyone on him,\u201d Coleen told the Daily Mail\u2019s You magazine. \u201cWhatever scrutiny I was under, [Wayne] had it tenfold. He'll drink to blot it all out and escape from the world. What happens of course is the opposite. <\/p>\n
\u201cWayne is not a big talker. So sometimes he can hold stuff in, and it can get to a point where it's a bit much.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe unhappy times were bad and made the headlines, but we've always brought it back to happiness. Every time he's gone off the rails, it's been a stupid, drunken, spur-of-the-moment thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked if they had ever considering having marriage cancelling, Coleen was clear. \u201cNo, we've never felt the need. I've probably tried to act as the therapist,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
On the strength of their relationship, she said: \u201cMy message is if there's something to work at, if the love's still there, why would you throw that away? Mistakes have happened, but I've always known Wayne's loved me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wayne recently returned to English football with Championship side Birmingham following a stint managing MLS side DC United.<\/p>\n
