Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has claimed Manuel Neuer should be ‘proud of himself’ as the goalkeeper prepares to make his return from injury after 10 months out with a broken leg.<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old has been out of action since breaking his leg in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps last December.<\/p>\n
Neuer had said he was attempting to ‘clear his head’ following Germany’s group stage exit at the World Cup in Qatar, which saw his last match on December 1.<\/p>\n
He returned to training in August but his comeback was pushed back last month after being left out of Bayern’s squad for a German DFB Cup tie against SC Preussen Munster.<\/p>\n
Tuchel has confirmed that Neuer will return to the starting line-up in Bayern’s Bundesliga game at home to Darmstadt on Saturday.<\/p>\n

‘He’s excited, we’re excited. There’s probably a lot of other people excited about it too,’ Tuchel told a pre-match press conference.<\/p>\n
‘It’s a special situation, I can feel his excitement and his class.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘He’s enjoying things right now and he can he proud of himself. He should enjoy it, and that will make him strong.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘His comeback is very impressive, I notice the difference in his condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I’m almost proud of the fact he’s come back, I’m very confident he’ll quickly reach his top form.<\/p>\n
‘I see a whole new level in goalkeeper training, he’s in his own league.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Neuer will replace\u00a0Sven Ulreich in goal and praised the 35-year-old for being a ‘safe pair of hands’ for Bayern Munich this season.<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old has admitted he was ‘excited’ for his return having overcome setbacks in his recovery.<\/p>\n
‘I\u2019m most excited about being back on the pitch with my team-mates,’ Neuer told Bayern’s club website.<\/p>\n
‘There were a few setbacks along the way, but those can be expected with such a big and lengthy injury.<\/p>\n
\u2018But as a patient or a sportsperson you don\u2019t want to accept that and try to be even strong than nature, but that\u2019s simply a part of such a big injury and you just had to remain patient and keep working hard.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019m obviously looking forward to playing in front of our fans again and hopefully celebrating a win.\u2019<\/p>\n

Neuer admitted he was excited to be returning after overcoming setbacks during his recovery<\/p>\n
Bayern are currently third in the Bundesliga after six wins and two draws at the start of the season.<\/p>\n
Tuchel’s side are two points behind leaders\u00a0Bayer Leverkusen and are a point adrift of second placed Stuttgart.<\/p>\n
Neuer has been a stalwart for the German national team since making his debut in 2009, with the goalkeeper making 117 appearances for his nation, while he was named captain in 2017.<\/p>\n
New Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed earlier this month that Neuer will not be restored as captain should he return.<\/p>\n
