The verdict states: \u2018Mr Sarek showed no insight into his racist behaviour. Education is a vital part of this sanction.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In his own statement, Sarek said: \u2018I am not a racist, nor have I ever been accused of being one, or for having racist views.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Describing his outburst as an \u2018aberration\u2019, he added: \u2018What I said was crass and insensitive and I am very sorry for the hurt and distress I caused. If there needs to be a disciplinary hearing, I am prepared to accept whatever punishment the panel deems appropriate.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A striking feature of the lengthy judgment is the testimony of the unnamed victim.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As someone with a long-term involvement in the sport, he stated: \u2018I am beginning to feel tired of defending the people in the game of rugby.\u2019 This was in reference to issues of racism.<\/p>\n<p>This latest episode will do nothing to alter the perception that the game has an entrenched issue with discrimination, especially at grass-roots level.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the RFU announced that another former council member, Alex Murphy, had been banned for saying \u2013 during the England v Wales match at Twickenham in February, 2022 \u2013 \u2018you realise they don\u2019t let n****rs in the Royal Box\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/27\/10\/77074257-12679471-image-a-16_1698400397851.jpg\" height=\"411\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s Bongi Mbonambi has been cleared to play in Saturday night&#8217;s World Cup final<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/27\/10\/77074261-12679471-image-m-18_1698400435636.jpg\" height=\"491\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>This follows a World Rugby investigation after he was accused of using a racial slur against Tom Curry (pictured)<\/p>\n<p>Last year, former England centre Luther Burrell revealed in an explosive Mail Sport interview\u00a0how he had encountered racism during his career.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His testimony sparked a root-and-branch review of racism and classism in the game, on behalf of the RFU, Premiership Rugby and the RPA \u2013 the players\u2019 union.
