as the former Newcastle United managing director prepares for a return to football<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Leading talent agency Wasserman Media Group are in talks with Lee Charnley\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Charnley is best known for his time with Newcastle, where he spent 22 years<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast &#8216;It&#8217;s All Kicking Off!&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Former Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley is set for a return to football with leading talent agency Wasserman Media Group.<\/p>\n<p>Charnley is in advanced talks with the company, who boast a stellar client list including John Stones, Nathan Ake, Harvey Barnes, Mikel Arteta and Steven Gerrard, about joining in a senior football operations role.<\/p>\n<p>Charnley was most recently at Nottingham Forest, joining the club on a consultancy basis in August 2022 to help aid the the City Ground side&#8217;s return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>However, Charnley is best known for his spell at Newcastle, where he spent 22 years, before leaving following the Saudi takeover in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Charnley&#8217;s appointment is viewed as a major coup by Wasserman given his expertise and experience operating within top-level English football.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/25\/16\/76991823-12671735-image-a-16_1698249125757.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lee Charnley (right) is in advanced talks about a role at\u00a0talent agency Wasserman Media Group<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/25\/16\/76991821-12671735-image-a-17_1698249134561.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Charnley, formerly Newcastle&#8217;s managing director, spent 22 years with the north east club<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, former Tottenham director of performance Steve Hitchen has joined agency Unique Sports Group &#8211; who have Reece James, Marc Guehi and Anthony Gordon among their client roster.<\/p>\n<p>Well-respected Hitchen, who has held roles at Liverpool, QPR and Derby, is joining as the company&#8217;s first ever director of football.<\/p>\n<p>Hitchen worked closely with Mauricio Pochettino during the Argentine&#8217;s reign at the club before leaving Tottenham in February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;m very happy to be joining one of the world&#8217;s leading football agencies in Unique Sports Group,&#8217;
