Fans were left raging with TNT Sports as Tuesday’s Champions League coverage suffered from a number of technical difficulties.

The BT Sport rebrand is the UK’s broadcaster of Europe’s premier competition this season.

However, things did not go smoothly during the showing of Manchester United’s tense 1-0 win over Copenhagen.

A crackling noise could be heard at various points throughout their coverage – it sounded like it was the producers talking into the earpieces of the on-screen talent – leading fans to take to social media to express their frustration.

‘What’s going on with the sound on TNT,’ wrote one, while another said the ‘sound issues all night are ridiculous.’

Another irate viewer posted: ‘Someone’s getting sacked on the TNT sound team tomorrow.’

Another joked that they ‘had let students have a crack at doing it.’

The poor sound quality wasn’t the only issue on the night as pundit Paul Scholes’ microphone cut out during the build up to the match.

Presenter Laura Woods dealt with it well while Scholes pretended to throw the faulty mic away.

The same problem then reared its head when the team were attempting to interview United manager Erik ten Hag after the game while fans also complained that the audio was out of sync with the pictures.

Thankfully for Manchester United they had more to smile about than TNT Sports’ sound team in the end after a crucial 1-0 win.

That result looked in real jeopardy when Scott McTominay conceded a 95th minute penalty.

Andre Onana, who has been panned in this tournament so far this season following mistakes against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, stepped up to be the man of the moment to save the penalty and secure United their first win of the 2023-24 group stage.

Onana told CBS: ‘For me, for the club, for the team it was important. It was an important victory for us, difficult game against a very good team.

‘The most important thing today was to win, so I’m happy for the victory, but but we have to move on.’

Explaining his feelings in the moment, the 27-year-old said: ‘Be myself, being calm, try to deal with the pressure. Old Trafford is not easy for the opponent. I made myself bigger, and I decided to go to the left.’

Focus now turns to Sunday’s mouthwatering clash against neighbours Manchester City in the first derby between the sides this season.
