Ex-Formula One racer turned broadcaster Martin Brundle once had arguably the most bizarre grid walk interview of his career at the Canadian Grand Prix – thanks to Ozzy Osbourne.

Back in 2003, Michael Schumacher beat out his own brother Ralf Schumacher to win the race in Montreal. Alongside the Schumacher's, British interests were represented by Jenson Button, David Coulthard and Justin Wilson, while other famous names racing included Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Mark Webber and even Max Verstappen's dad, Jos Verstappen.

However, one of the most iconic moments of the 2003 Montreal race happened prior to the actual race, when Brundle, then working for ITV, got the chance to interview legendary heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne. ITV studio host Jim Rosenthal passed over to Brundle, who began one of his now famous grid walks and spotted the Black Sabbath frontman.

Brundle said: "Thank you Jim, hello everybody, welcome to the grid. A lot of interesting things happening here at the moment. There's a bit of a scrum going on because Ozzy Osbourne has turned up.

"First time I've certainly seen him in Formula One being interviewed at the moment by German television. We'll try and jump in there in a moment.

He then added: "I want to have a word with this guy because he's a complete and utter fruitcake as we all know, and we all love watching him, on the TV, but let's see if we can…he's got a very big minder here at the moment. Pasquale, can you sort anything out for us here, we've got six or seven million people trying to listen to what Ozzy's got to say.

Then, Brundle got his wish. "Ozzy, British TV, good to see you," said Brundle, to which Osbourne replied: "Good to see you here."

"Sharon had some good news this week I hear," continued Brundle, which prompted a bizarre response from the music icon who said: "Yeah, I'm currently writing a musical about the life and time of Rasputin the mad monk and they're allowing it to go on broadway soon."

Bemused, Brundle then countered with: "Alright, I'll try and think of a question to that answer. Did you bring the dogs with you? And in an effort to seemingly cut his time short on ITV, Osbourne replied: "No, they're all at home s****ing." "Excellent, I think we'll move on," said Brundle, moving away from Osbourne before finishing up that segment of his grid walk with: "Now what else can I tell you about the race today, because you might be slightly more interested in that."
